On Saturday, June 27, over 40 members of the Mon Valley Ski Club went to see the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Kansas City Royals at PNC Park.  The festivities started at about 4pm on the rooftop deck at Paul Dooley’s work.  We grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs while taking in the view of the downtown skyline and boats speeding up the Allegheny river.  After we were full and had plenty of beverages, we took a walk down the scenic allegheny river bike path to join a near sellout crowd  of 36,032 at PNC Park.

The seats for the game were amazing! We were just above 3rd base, with prime position to watch the game and the fireworks afterwards.  Highlights of the game included Delwyn Young’s three run homerun and Mahlom and the Bucs pithcing staff keeping the Royals to only two runs.  By the end of the ninth, the Bucs were up 6-2 and everyone was ready for the fireworks fiasco (see the video below).

I want to give a sepcial thanks to Mike Visconti, Paul Dooley and all of the volunteers who helped make this event happen.  We all had a great time.
